Frontend modernization, component library, mobile/SIM setup, banking onboarding
Modernized an MVP-grade frontend into a production-ready platform with improved velocity and UX consistency.
Vue, TypeScript, Mobile
The Challenge
Ellis, a US startup serving immigrants, students, and H-1B holders with mobile/SIM and banking services, had done the hard part: validated their product with a working MVP. But the frontend was showing its limits - inconsistent UX, accumulated technical debt, and velocity constraints that would block the next stage of growth.
They needed staff-level frontend expertise to modernize the codebase without slowing the team's shipping pace.
What We Built
This engagement predates Arx Modus as a bureau: our founder joined Ellis's team directly, working in close partnership with the CTO to modernize the frontend over six months:
- Modernized architecture, bringing structure and reliability to an MVP-grade codebase
- Built out a shared component library, cutting duplication and speeding up feature work
- Established frontend standards for code quality, patterns, and practices
The focus was a foundation that would support the company's growth while still delivering visible improvements week to week.
Outcome
The modernized codebase reached release-ready state within the six-month window. The component library reduced duplication and accelerated feature development, and UX consistency improved across the product surface - leaving Ellis with a frontend foundation matched to their next phase of growth.
